The Ralls County Health Department organized the first Ralls County Kayak Race at Mark Twain Lake in May of this year. Thanks to the proceeds of that event, a donation of $700 was made the Mark Twain Lake Visitors and Educational Resource Center Committee (VERCC) to help provide a playground at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center. The first Kayak Race took place at the Indian Creek Recreation Area and Indian Creek Marina.

The $700 donation was presented by Maekayla Wiler of the Ralls County Health Department and accepted by Bob Kendrick, chairman of the Mark Twain Lake VERCC. Kendrick said the donation will help provide a needed recreational opportunity at the Visitor Center and the group is very appreciative of the local support.
