Florida, MO will be host to several activities planned for Saturday, September 2, 2017.
The Old Florida Traders Festival is being held from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, in Florida, just east of the Hwy. 107 and U Hwy. intersection. There will be booths containing Collectibles, Handmade Crafts & Jewelry, Guns/Knives, Furniture and Food. Live Music will be provided at Key West Campground and the Florida Winery. Also the Friends of Florida will provide access to the Old Florida School House and the Florida Cabin.
The Department of Natural Resources will have an open house from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 2nd, at the Mark Twain Memorial Shrine, to share information on present and future plans for the Mark Twain State Park, Birthplace 
Historic Site, and Union Covered Bridge, and to answer questions that the public may have. There will be much to do that day in the park and at the Memorial Shrine for families and individuals including kayaking, geo-caching, archery and shooting of sling shots at Lake Tom Sawyer, as well as live animal presentations at the Camp Clemens Nature Center there. Come to the Shrine to see the exciting new exhibits inside the building, then stay to pan for gems at our sluice outside and to play old-fashioned games or to take a Storybook Walk on the Barefoot Sam Trail.
National award-winning storyteller, Jim Two Crows Wallen
That evening, at 8 p.m., at the Special Use Area in the State Park Campground, the park will be presenting an award-winning storyteller, Jim Two Crows Wallen, who will share stories and artifacts from Native Americans who lived in Missouri before it became a state.
National award winning storyteller, Jim Two Crows Wallen, is an oral historian who combines his love of history with a good story, keeping you spellbound. For more than three decades, the Missouri native has captured the imaginations of audiences spanning four continents. Two Crows invites you to be submerged in history through his exciting historical presentations. All his programs include historically accurate clothing and artifacts. You won’t want to miss his Tipi Days program he will share stories and artifacts from Native Americans who lived in Missouri before it became a state.
